Project description: Situated on the island of Phu Quoc along the beachfront, the Novotel resort and hotel was designed as an oasis where the landscape and the structures were seamlessly woven together into a holistic experience. The partners of TJOA, while at 5G Studio, worked within the project team to design and develop the project site plan, landscaping, hardscaping, swimming and reflecting pools, as well as the individual villas and cabanas.
The initial concept followed an existing stream that flowed through the site whereby the spine of the resort and its circulation would be carried by this flow of water. In areas of contemplation, it would pool and rise up only to overflow an infinity edge to create special waterfalls and secret grottoes.
The initial concept design was taken through the design development phase, then had to be handed off to an architect of record in Vietnam. However many aesthetic moves were carried through and can be seen in the final project images.
